Rockstar Games will release Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition on November 11, bringing classic Grand Theft Auto games from the PS2 era to a Nintendo console for the first time. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition will also be available on the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, but it appears that the Nintendo Switch version will include some exclusive features.

Rather than simply creating a portable version of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, the Switch port actually has exclusive features that take advantage of the unique capabilities of the hardware. According to Rockstar Games, the GTA Trilogy Switch version includes optional gyro aiming controls, as well as the Grand Theft Auto 5-style control scheme available in other versions of the game. Not only that, but the GTA Trilogy Switch port also has support for motion control. Those who play Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on Nintendo Switch will be able to use the touchscreen to zoom the camera and make menu selections, if they wish. Again, these are additional features on top of what's available on other platforms, and they don't even include the ability to play Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on the go.

The Nintendo Switch version of Grand Theft Auto Trilogy will include the other enhancements that come with the game, of course. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition features GTA 5-style controls, improved aiming mechanics, updated radio station wheels and weapons, an updated minimap, and more. It is unclear if the Nintendo Switch version will have achievements built in (Rockstar updated the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy achievement and trophy lists), as the Switch console itself does not have an achievement system of any kind. It remains to be seen exactly how the Switch version of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy compares to the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox versions in terms of performance, but fans won't have to wait long to find out. The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy release date is November 11 on digital stores, with the games' physical release scheduled for December 7.

So far, the reaction to the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy improvements has been mostly positive, a stark contrast to the way fans reacted to the next-gen GTA 5 footage that was released recently. That game won't be out until March 2022, so hopefully Grand Theft Auto Trilogy will be enough to help fans until then.
