Halloween is just over a week away. While many game studios have already started events for the holiday season, announcements for Halloween-related games keep pouring in. Recently, the studios behind Terraria and Don’t Starve revealed a new crossover to celebrate the spooky time of year. In a couple of short videos, these indie game developers gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from the crossover.

News of this upcoming event was revealed after Terraria's official Twitter account posted a short message. "Just a little news from Terraria, not a big deal," the tweet read. However, the attached video shared by developer Re-Logic made many believe that it was indeed a big deal. The short clip showed the game world Don’t Starve with its main character Wilson. Suddenly, the Eye of Cthulhu, a Terraria boss, appeared at the top of the screen. Shortly after this tweet from Terraria, Klei Entertainment, the developer of Don’t Starve, posted a tweet in response. This later tweet also included a short video. Taking place in the 2D world of Terraria, the video was set during a fierce snowstorm. Suddenly, a huge monster emerged from the side of the screen. Known as a Deerclops of Don’t Starve, the hideous creature lumbered toward the center of the image and let out a terrifying roar. Then he continued on his way, exiting the other side of the screen. In addition to the video, Klei Entertainment commented, “Wow, I think we mixed something up somewhere. Well, I'm sure everything will work itself out for next month alone. "

This crossover is certainly exciting for fans of these indie titles. Along with the game changer, the developers redesigned these beasts to resemble the art style present in every game. The Deerclops features a much more pixelated aesthetic, while the Eye of Cthulhu received a higher resolution model. With both tweets from the creators receiving thousands of likes, fans seem to like the new designs for the monsters. Currently, the developers have only teased this monstrous exchange between Terraria and Don’t Starve. It is unknown what kind of role they will play in each title. However, these creatures are formidable opponents in their own games and should probably not be taken lightly after the trade.

This is just one of the many Halloween-themed events taking place throughout the remainder of October. Recently, Pokémon GO launched Halloween Mischief, a two-part event. During the event, players can see many new cosmetics, such as new items for avatars. Additionally, several new Halloween-themed Pokémon have been introduced to the game to celebrate the ghostly season.
