Employees at Paizo, the studio that publishes the popular D&D-like Pathfinder tabletop role-playing game, have announced the formation of a new union, United Paizo Workers. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, a video game based on the role-playing game published by Paizo, was just released in September. In the weeks since its launch, Paizo has come under fire after employees began to speak out about the company's leadership and executive management, claiming that a stressful and uncomfortable work environment has been created and maintained at the company. , among other accusations.

On Twitter, the United Paizo Workers announced its formation, stating that it is one of the first unions of its kind to develop board games. A subsequent Twitter thread asked supporters to use their voices to help the union be recognized by the Paizos executive leadership.

The employee organization also thanked fans and supporters who came together to demand that the publisher be held accountable for its alleged actions. This announcement also comes at a crucial time in the gaming industry as a whole, as one of the world's largest game publishers, Activision Blizzard, faces a lawsuit based on its own workplace allegations. In one of the endnotes of its Twitter thread, the United Paizo Workers stated, "When a party member is in trouble, * we * all throw the initiative away." This refers to a common tabletop RPG element, when combat begins and all participants must react.
